Iceland
Read MoreWinding into Sun
Driving in Iceland can be distracting - its not the roads which are mostly smooth (minus the rugged mountain passes)...its the surreal landscape and light that make me wonder what planet I'm on. As winter approaches, the sun angle remains low on the horizon creating some strange twilight effects. As soon as we drove up in front of this curve, I almost screeched to halt - had to jump out and take capture this epic sunset drive!
Photo Tip: I'm a big fan of taking open road shots like this. I find that the most dramatic point of view is one from the center of the road (rather than from the sides). I'm ALWAYS careful of oncoming traffic of course. Luckily it was just us on the roads so it wasn't a problem. Also, a nice curve helps draw in the observer.
